My wife Sandy started taking flying lessons about the same time we got married and she got her license shortly before our 12th anniversary. She wasn't much for studying, so it took forever for her to complete the lessons.

Yesterday afternoon, she narrowly escaped injury in the aircraft she was piloting when she was forced to make an emergency landing in Southern Tennessee because of bad weather.

Thank God I was at the beach house this weekend.

The NTSB issued a preliminary report, citing pilot error: Sandy was flying a single engine aircraft in IFR (instrument flight rating) conditions while only having obtained a VFR (visual flight rating) rating.

The absence of a post-crash fire was likely due to insufficient fuel on board.

No one on the ground was injured.

The photograph below was taken at the scene and shows the extent of damage to her aircraft.

She was very lucky to have walked away from this crash.

My gal has never seen nor used one of those devices.
It's all up to me whether we have bits sticking to our feet or not. It's a responsibility I do not wish to have.
That goes double for dish soap and toilette brushes.
I'm afraid she would probably crash those as well.

Hey that's MY BROOM!! Well we don't sweep with it anymore, it's now a threat broom. If my Border Collie will not come in or is misbehaving we just stick it out the back door and tap it on the deck once or twice and just say "BROOM" and she flies in with her tail between her legs.

For some reason she is terrified of that broom.
