Naming Guns?

My wife has a "red spider" Glock-17, with a red spider decal on it. (We got it that way).

Then I should buy a .454 Casull. I'd call it "big block".

I was once at the SASS Midwest Regional Match in Middletown. There was a guy in my posse shooting an 1887 Winchester lever action shot gun. It was not one of the modern repros but an original.

These guns have somewhat ponderous actions and even the new ones have an unfortunate tendency to be somewhat finicky in cycling, ejecting empties, etc.

The posse members reached the conclusion that our companion's gun was named "Goddamnit," owing to the fact that about once every shooting stage the thing would seize up in some manner, whereupon its owner would pound it with his fist while addressing it by name, to wit, "GODDAMNIT!!!"

I have A Sako 243 that over the last 40yrs I shot more coyotes then I could haulin the back of my truck by far.My hunting partner thought it was appropriate to name the gun BIG JAKE!

I have named several of my flintlocks. My .45 caliber J.P. Beck with 13/16" x 42" octagon barrel is named Amanda. Long, lean with just the right amount of curves in the right places.

My .50 caliber Isaac Haines rifle is named Liberty.

My .36 caliber Jacob Dickert is named Gwenalene after a special woman that was small but packed a punch.

My .62 caliber/.20 guage French Fusil Fin is named Tempeste. French female name the means a violent storm. Lol

There would be too many names to remember...seems like too much work to me; I just try to remember what they all actually are, their history and what not.
