By saying they don't have the right to build what they want on their own private property, you are in turn justifying your local governments rights to restrict what you build on your property. Should I be free to build a shed on my land without a permit, worrying what my neighbors think of it, etc.? How many on here like to talk about they are free to do what they wish with their own property? Yet when someone else chooses to do something with their property you don't like, you scream for government intervention?

Liberty. Either you have it or you don't. Giving the government the power to stop this mosque also empowers them to meddle in your property affairs.

The government already "meddles" in our property affairs. That is why we have property taxes, zoning ordinances, setbacks, and less we forget, permits.

How far away is the guy who owns the place? Rights do not rely on population percentages.

Of course they have the "right" to build it. I think it's a slap in the face to many Americans who have family that died there. And those are equally as wrong. When the government says you can't have a shed on your particular piece of property, most people act like children. Instead of fighting that particular issue, they will then say "Well if I can't have my shed, they guy down the street shouldn't be able to have his carport. Carports need banned." What's accomplished by that thinking? You don't have your shed, he doesn't have his carport, you are now divided enemies instead of a unit working against an over reaching government, and government has more power. What exactly did you win there?
