A NO M1 Carbine followed me home from a pawn shop the other day. I've always wanted a carbine, but not willing to pay big bucks for a WWII that's to valuable to shoot. I'm a newbe when it comes to this gun so sorry if this is a dumb question.

The gun seems in overall good condition. Haven't shot it yet but seems to function smoothly with little wear.
But, it does have the redesigned slide that NO used in the mid 60's.
Everything I've read says to swap the slide( and recoil spring) with USGI parts. Looking at USGI slides, there are at least 4 types. Anyone know which type slide I should order? Also what's the difference between the designs?
    Thanks
