Mods , didn't know if I should put this here or in SHTF so move if needed .

The article in the link says that 13 states have laws against confiscating people's guns after a natural disaster such as Katrina .

Katrina inspires bans on gun seizures

Do we have such a law here in IN. ?

If not , shouldn't we be pushing for some sort of laws to let us keep the right to protect ourselves ?

As I recall a piece of legislation got through last year that forbids confiscating firearms in an emergency. Can't remember the bill number, but it looks like we're good to go here.

I say if something like that happens my FAMILY & FRIENDS safety comes first, anybody that wants to take my FAMILY'S protection will be treated as an ENEMY:twocents:

yes in indiana they passed such a bill last year. but if marshal law is ever enacted keep in mind it will all be thrown out the window. thats why I operate by the principle, "from my cold dead hands"

I dont put much stock in what tools in suits say.

What a great idea, while a states residents are trying to recover from a natural disaster, lets remove their ability to protect their family. The cold dead hands principle is the only way at that point.

Same bill/law as the "parking lot storage".
Prohibits the state, a political subdivision, or any other person from prohibiting or restricting the lawful possession, transfer, sale, transportation, storage, display, or use of firearms or ammunition during a declared disaster emergency, energy emergency, or local disaster emergency, subject to exceptions that apply to the prohibition against adoption or enforcement of a policy or rule that prohibits the possession of a firearm in a locked vehicle. Repeals provisions that allow certain political subdivisions to adopt emergency ordinances to regulate firearms if a local disaster emergency has been declared.
Codifies how many of us feel.

Natural disaster, I'm out of here.

I'm not waiting for some government agency to provide their
form of assistance, provided I bow to it's desires.

Katrina was a perfect example. Depending on the circumstances,
it could be months for things to get back to normal.

I won't live under martial law any longer than what it takes to pack
a couple of vans and head to free pastures in another location.

I am so happy that there is a law protecting my ability to keep my weapons in the event of natural disaster. Just like the law in the Consitution of The United States of America that states that our right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Holds about the same weight.
