Okay guys, got my pt709 back from Taurus. Still wont shoot the WWB, Shot rem umc fine. So here's what I'm thinking.

    1) Put 500 rounds of quality ammo through it and hope I'll finally trust this weapon.

    2) Work out a trade, dump at gun show.

    3) Put in box and forget about it.

So, please let me know what you think.................jpd

Thanks. Something good to know before you hit your 50 post limit and start listing things for sale. It's enough for me, I'll go ahead and add you to my ignore list right now. Much appreciated.

Either send it back to Taurus again, or use UMC instead of WWB.

For the record, I don't consider either of them to be "quality ammo."

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. I would put some rounds through her and see what happens, and or get rid of it at a show. Bottom line the bad experience will always be in the back of your mind, so if you did plan to carry it that may bother you. Would you be able to ever really trust it? Good luck with your decision :ingo:

Sounds to me like your pistol just doesn't like WWB.

    And that happens.

Could be that your next pistol won't like Remington UMC. If it shoots other stuff just fine...fantastic.

When I went to the doctor and told him my knee hurt when I would hit it with a hammer he said "don't your knee with a hammer then"...

Personally I don't trust any semi auto until it has at least 1000 rounds of practice and at least 100 rounds of carry ammo through it malfunction free. I don't know the nature of your malfunction with the WWB but if it shoots other ammo fine then I would take the doctor's advice and not use WWB anymore. If that doesn't appeal to you then trade it or sell it, it is up to you if you want to be honest and tell the buyer it doesn't like WWB.

It might be the OAL of the WWB that your Taurus doesn't like. Put a WWB round next to a UMC or Blazer. You will see that the WWB is quite a bit longer. My BHP will not run on WWB, but is perfect with everything else.

I have 2 mags for the BHP that I cant even put WWB in, they are just too long.
    Just a thought.:dunno:

my glock isn't particular about ammo :)

seriously though, i would just use ammo it will feed. i use my 709 primarily as a BUG, so i would have no issues carrying ball ammo if i had to.

Send it back for a refund, if possible. Check their website and paperwork to see if they have anything that says, "If you are not absolutely satisfied... " This may be a stretch, but worth a try. If not, just run the ammo that it will take. Is there any particular reason you feel you must run WWB? There is other cheap ammo that you can try.

What did the Taurus people do to it?

Have you done any google searches for others who have had similar problems?

Have you checked into a Fluff & Buff for your particular model?

There may be wisdom out there that you haven't found yet, don't give up on it just yet.

If you do, let me know. I'll make it $75.00 :D

I do not want to insult your gun, get rid of it and never buy another one. Everyone I know has had trouble with them in one way or another. I would not put my life on the line with one.

I would run some other cheap ammo through it, clean it, lube it and see if you have problems with other kinds of ammo.

Sell your WWB to someone who will use it.

If you have problems with other ammo, i would get rid of it.
