Need help finding a revolver

I have a friend who is looking for a revolver for her fathers birthday.

All I know is that he wants a Smith & Wesson with a 6" vented rib barrel in 44 mag.

I have looked and not found anything currently in production.

Any idea what model number they are looking for?

Did he see a Taurus and think it was a Smith & Wesson because of the latch?

OR, did someone put a Colt barrel on a Smith???
