Just recently started looking up info on a old 22 that I have had since I was a kid but coming up with some conflicting info. The gun is rough shape but still fires and works smoothly. I have ran serial number and it dates 1898 but looking around on the net I can find anything that looks like this particular gun. Most 1890's I've seen have octagon barrels mine is round tapered, most have a take-down screw mine has a screw but not a thumb screw. No other markings are visible also the wooden pump handle is smooth where others have been grooved.
So far cant figure out what model for sure or what version it is. Will try to post pictures later, any info or where to look sites or books would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't think it would be too difficult to figure out if it has a serial number.

Most .22's back then did not have serial numbers on them. I have an older .22Lr Mossberg that dates to the 1940's that has no serial number.

Measure the barrel length. If it is 20" it is a Model 1906. Earlier Models had smooth forearms. If it is a Model 1890 the barrel has been replaced on it. Are there two sets of serial numbers or one set? Any letters in the serial numbers?
