I am trying to price some older guns, 3 long guns & a .357 revolver. I don't have a good local gun shop in my area & the pawn shop is the closest thing in town. The guys in the pawn shop didn't even want to break out the Blue Book to help price the guns unless I bring them in & tell the guy I am going to sell them to him. I'd rather not deal with that hassle if I can avoid it if they are just going to low ball me on prices.

Anyways, the guns I am trying to value, & subsequently, will be posting in the classifieds are as follows. I will add pictures later tonight when I get home.

    1. Harrington & Richardson Arms - 1949 Topper M48 3" .410 - Serial # J15XXX

    2. Marlin - Pre-1968 (No Serial # on gun) 81-DL Micro Groove .22 Tube Fed Bolt-Action

    3. Savage - 1970 24S-E .22 Win Mag Only OVER 2 3/4" 20Ga - Serial # P1212XX

    4. Taurus - 1989 Model 66B4 .357 Magnum Revolver w/ 4" Barrel - Serial # ID1366XX

If anyone has a Blue Book of Gun Values that could price these for me I would really appreciate it. I'm looking to possibly sell these & turn them into new toys that go bang!

I do not have a Blue Book of gun values. However, You may want to check some shops and gunbroker. The Savage over under would, I think, bring more than the book value. I have priced a few of the .22/410's over the years and they seem to run high.

That said, I will give you $50 for the Savage:D

Off the top of my head, the .410 single and the .22 are gonna be right around $100-150. O/U 22/20 should go about $200-250 and the Taurus would be a nice deal at $250-300. These prices would reflect normal wear and tear, no rust, no missing parts, etc.

I've seen the .410 single & the .22 anywhere from $75-$150 online but that was auctions on Gunbroker so no idea if those were accurate or not.

The O/U Savage I've seen a huge price spectrum for it so I have no idea what it's actually worth.

All 4 guns are in very good shape. The came from my great uncle & if they were fired at all, it was probably only once & then cleaned & put in the closet. The Taurus revolver has been getting range time since it was passed down but has seen less than 100 rounds.

I am looking for what the Blue Book has to say so I don't ask a ridiculous price when the guns are worth less.

When you come up with a price on the Savage let me know. Is the Taurus stainless? If so let me know on it too, I may have somebody interested for you.

Gunbroker, is usually the place I go to to get a ball park figure. You can sort by auctions that have ended (Going Going Gone) which will give you an idea what people are willing to pay.

As for using Gunbroker as a guide, remember that that site is open to bidders from all over the world. Thus it is my opinion that you are bidding against the whole world for an item on there, and thus, are going to pay the highest price possible for it. What I see in most cases there, is that the guns for sale have such high reserves that they don't sell and are run repeatedly through the auction process. Not all items, but way too many. I have watched this play out time after time there.
The guns you listed are pretty common here in Indiana. Your best bet would be to market them locally {within the state}. Your single 410 should bring about $120. The .357 about $250-$275, O/U about $$275-$300, The Marlin about $150 if it is about new condition. None of your guns should be affected by the time of year. Shotguns are definitely seasonal, but your particular one would not fall into that category.

    2010 Blue book;
    Topper M28 $60-150 based on 60%-100%
    Marlin M81 DL 1940-1965 mfg $65-%100
    Savage 24S $190-$395
    Taurus 66 $130-$395
These are from the 2010 Blue book, I don't know if your Taurus is stainless, which would have higher value. I couldn't find the "E" designation on the Savage, I'm sure our Savage collectors can tell you about that, hope this helps.

Get your prices set and advertise them here. You won't like to hear what gun shops and pawn shops will offer you. That being said I'm not bashing on them as I understand the overhead, wages, insurance, etc, etc, and it is a business and their goal is to make money.Members here would love to have a shot at your guns and will pay a fair price.Look at the interest shown in them and they aren't even in the classifieds yet.

I didn't have a chance to get pictures last night as I didn't get home until late, but I will be snapping pictures this evening & listing these in the classifieds.

The Taurus is not Stainless. I'm not eager to get rid of that one but wouldn't mind turning it into a S&W .357 Revolver on a trade + cash type deal.

IMHO in Indiana shotguns and .22s are more popular items, often go for the higher end of a price range, while big game rifles tend to fetch the lower end.

With the allowance of some rifles the used deer handgun and shotgun market has taken a bit of a downturn (flooded).

Yup, GB final selling price doesn't take into account geographical preferences or those who have searched for some time for an exact piece who pay premium to finally score it and end the search.
