Yes, they are fantastic. I have the 4-14x44 but that was before the 5-25x56 came out. I think IndyGunWorks has the bigger one if you have questions about it.

I use the Burris XTR Rings on my Bolt-Action, but if you're putting it on an AR I'd pry go for the LaRue Rings.

Indygunworks -- what are your thoughts on the scope?

well, i have reccomended them to several people in the past.... w/ my version you have to learn mils as its only available in MIL/MIL which is a plus in my book.... you are more than welcome to come put your paws on it.
    its big
    heavy
    robust
    very tactile clicks

Oh, and side focus.... field of view and eye relief are alittle on the smaller side, but for what you pay for the scope you cant have ALL the great features.... at least you get the ones that matter.

Other than the larger front portion of the optic, do you think their is any real difference between the 5x25x50 and 5x25x56?

If you have questions about mil/mil and moa/moa I would refer you to this thread. Which angular measurements MOAvMIL do you prefer? - Sniper's Hide Forums

I read it until my eyes were bleeding, then I called 42769vette and he explained it to me gain. I think I've got it now. I hope. I'll get it straightened out at the long range shoot.

Na, its easy Bigum... It helps if you draw it out.

    1 Mil = 3.6" per 100yds

and the Mil/Mil scopes have adjustments that are 1/10 of a Mil per click.

so if you are zeroing your scope at 200yds and you are 1 Mil low (by looking through the scope) you adjust it 10 clicks. It doesn't matter that at 200 yds 1 Mil = 7.2"

You'll get it. Just have to start thinking in Mils rather than inches and it'll be fine.

And 1 MOA is 1.047 of an inch at 100 yards.

And shooters MOA is about 1 inch at 100 yards.

Now you just have to find out what your scope has. Hopefully the company knows.

im a huge nikon fan. i have them on almost everything, that being said, i just purchased a new redfield 4-12 for $200. I love it. very clear. made by leopold now. another huge selling point for me is that they are made right here in the us! my nikons are chinese i believe. I am making a concerted effort to buy products made in the usa. its redfield from now on for me.

Hey Big, let me know when you settle on something...This winter I found some surface rust on one of my rifles and started freaking out and took all of my rifles apart(including taking off the scopes). So maybe we can set up a zeroing day at the range.:)

BTW, which LR-308 do you have?

I almost forgot. Save a few bones for a nice trigger. The LR-308's trigger is absolutely HORRID.

I lucked out and found an unfired Timney trigger for $75(they usually run about $190) and it made all the difference in the world.
