They are doing wonderful things with eye surgery now. Granted I did not have your brother's problem, but speaking from experience, I have great confidence that it will go well. My best to your brother.

    Thanks to everyone.
He had the surgery this morning and is doing good.
Now we have to wait thru the weekend and they will remove the eye patch and see how much vision was impacted.

Thank you all very much for the prayers and well wishes, very much appreciated.

    ROUND 1

Here’s my story, January 14th I was diagnosed with Uveal Melanoma, basically skin cancer on my iris. The first words from the doctor were you have cancer and I’m going to save your eye. Scheduled a CT scan and blood work the following day. (Thank you ST Vincent Williamsport for working me in) January25th doctor Williams at the UC health in Cincinnati did a biopsy of the tumor and sewed a gold Plaqe containing several pellets of iodide 125 to my eye and sewed it shut, this was to kill the tumor.

I stayed close by the hospital in a hotel room with my wife wearing a lead patch (as seen in a photo above) till the following Tuesday the 29th, longest 96 hours of my life. Yes it was miserable as it sounds, the lead patch was to protect my wife and unnecessary if she was out of the room. That heavy lead patch was hideous, Sunday I said to my wonderful, caring wife, my best friend and partner, you gotta leave so I can take thing off my face. That was a huge relief Monday she went to a casino, best and last day. Tuesday they opened my eye And removed the plaque bandaged me up and sent me home.

Next day we took the bandage off and I opened for the first time, had some slight double vision and extremely blurry but I could see. My biopsy came back as class 1A Melanoma, good as it can be expected. Fast forward to today and my 30 day checkup, the tumor no longer is being fed by a blood vessel and has shrunk in size. My vision is back to 20/25 and dissolvable stitches on my eye ball are almost gone. It will be another month or 2 before my eye is completely healed but I’m typing this with both eyes open which is a huge milestone.

Cannot say enough about the Barrett Cancer Center and UC health in Cincinnati in particular DR Williams, they saved my life. God forbid any of you should ever find yourself faced with eye Cancer but if you do, It’s definitely the place to go.

    ROUND2

My CT scan was ensure the Melanoma in my eye had not spread anywhere else. CT scan revealed a 4CM tumor on my right kidney, relatively small tumor and no sighs in my urin or blood of any issues but it was there. The main concern was it being Metastatic Melanoma which is incurable. That was January 16th my kidney biopsy was scheduled for February 11 after the eye Melanoma was radiated, it was deemed the most important.

I’m probably not alone on this, if it’s broken I fix it, if it needs done I do it, I protect and care for what God has blessed me with. But I’ve never really “given” my problems to the Lord. Oh, I’ve asked for guidance but to actually let it go was not in my vocabulary, till this, couldn’t handle this, only God could. January 17th 6:30 AM,a very special day for me, evil may have though that cancer, 2 cancers would separate me from my faith it was wrong, dead wrong.

Never thought I’d be praying, asking people to pray to have kidney cancer but 2 separate unrelated Cancers are way better than Metastatic Melanoma. Our prayers where answered February 14th, Renal Carcinoma, regular Kidney Cancer not Melanoma. My wife said it’s the best Valentines present she ever got. Now I’m waiting to hear from IU Indy on when they can remove the tumor from my kidney. Keep the prayers coming.
