New Bipartisan Bill Will Allow U.S. Gov’t To Shut Off Any Website, Anywhere, For Any Reason

You really need to read the whole article and the sections of the bill they highlight.

Again so broadly written they could shut down all of ebay or amazon because of one users actions.

They reference the .gov trying to shut down 1 child porn site last year and they wound up taking down 70,000 sites, most of which were legitimate businesses who customers got .gov messages popping up saying you are attempting to view child porn!

Looks like the great china firewall is coming to America.... under the guise of illegal music downloads and would be terrorist sites.

As usual, there will be no oversight and it's shut down first, ask questions later... also, if they shut down, wikileaks for example, and someone had put a http link here on INGO, the back track would shut down INGO as well due to 'affiliation'.

They're working on taking over radio broadcasts at will on a national level too. Testing the system next month in fact. So at least when they hit the killswitch on the Internet they can announce their reason for doing so on the Emergency Broadcast System.

Thanks big Media Content, yet again you prove why people "pirate".

Why is it with a dvd i buy, i am forced to watch the mandated FBI anti-piracy message? I can't skip, can't fast forward. Now they are doing the same thing with commercials and trailers. Fewer and fewer reasons for me to buy movies...

This is a really bad bill. It could easily be used to shut down Youtube, for hosting the early Justin Beiber videos that he posted before he got famous. This is bad legislation and the fact that it's "bi-partisan" shows just how deep some people are into the pockets of certain industries.

The RIAA/MPAA have been dumping cash on the Congress for years (both parties). They are looking to get their payback now. The way these groups behave, I think they could get a RICO case against them.
