Did my first Bomar sight install yesterday and since it came out nice so I thought I would share it.
80 series Colt 1911 with standard sights.
After leveling and squaring the slide in my mill it was time for the 1st cut.
time to do the dovetail. I did a pass through cut with a standard end mill to make it easier on my dovetail cutter.
opened up the dovetail until the sight fit in.
time to do a pocket for the rear portion of the sight. I really wanted to create a pocket instead of just opening it up. It looks more professional if you ask me.
I used a 3/16 bit which made a nice radius on the corners.
I left the firing pin plate in so it got trimmed at the same time to the same height
drilled, tapped and cut a relief for the adjusting screw
did a .003 flat spot on top and cut a dovetail for the front sight and a 1/16 pin hole
I'm pretty happy with the final results. Here it is done
Thanks for looking
