Just bought my first gun Saturday morning, so here I am.

I got a Taurus PT58 .380 ACP. Good starter gun.

I'm new to this forum, obviously, but not new to forums in general.

So, where are the best kept secrets in Central Indiana?

Best places to buy cheap ammo?

Good places to do some target shooting?

Like I said, this is my first handgun (I've fired many guns before this, but this is the first I've owned) and I want to make sure I do the proper research before I have fun with it. ;)

If you don't already have one, you'll need to get a License to Carry Handgun (LTCH) before you can take it to a range. That said, there are several sticky threads in the various subsections of INGO that answer your questions pretty thoroughly.

Yeah, I plan on getting my lifetime carrying permit next payday. Until then, it's staying in the safe in my room.

Welcome to INGO. Ammo isn't cheap anywhere anymore :(
Plainfield Shooting Supplies seems to get high marks for overall prices on firearms.

Lots of places to shoot, but very few of them that are close to Noblesville are open to the public. The place in Cicero should be open in a couple months though.

    Welcome!

.380 will be expensive, no matter where you go. WalMart tends to be the cheapest with range ammo. Winchester White Box is around $25 per 100, I believe.

    Update!

It's been quite a while since I've logged on here..and I've gotten lots of new goodies! :)

Aside from the Taurus in my first post, I know have:

    Glock 27 - .40 S&W

    Taurus PT 145 Millenium .45

    DSC_3203.jpg

    Walther PPK/S - .380

The rest I don't have individual pictures for, but you can see them in my locked gun closet:

    gunshelf2.jpg

    L to R : Glock 27, Walther PPK/S, Taurus PT 145, Colt 1911 Rimless/Hammerless .32, and the Taurus PT 58

Next shelf down is my Mossberg 500 and my Maverick 88

Also - How long does it usually take for your CCW? I submitted the paperwork to the ISP over 2 months ago, after waiting 6 weeks for the city to give it to me.

If you didn't file electronically it can take 8-10 weeks.

Just for clarification - 8-10 weeks from the time you submit to the city? Or 8-10 weeks from the time you send it to the ISP? Cause It's been about 14-16 weeks since I went to the Public Safety building and started the paperwork/gave my prints.

    Thanks!

I don't know EXACTLY how it works, but you can also resubmit using the L1 method and have your LTCH in like 2 weeks, and then get a refund for the first one. I know people have done this, but I don't have all the info on that.

I do know that we did the online/L1 method through Noblesville PD and we had ours in a week and a half.
