If you click the "Illegal Gun Activity" link on the website it's all about guns being sold at a private residence. Some questions are "what kind of guns are being sold?" and what door or window are they being sold from. Since when is it illegal to transact the transfer of firearms at a residence? Unless the transaction includes a non-proper person.

    WOW.

Since when does local Law Enforcement enforce, or try to detect, violations of BATFE regs? Never in my experience in local law enforcement.

This is totally out of my experience. i cannot explain the reasoning behind this. Someone actually thinks that guns are sold through windows of houses?

Find out the secret knock or handshake and shut them suckers down.....

Not all illegal gun activity is BATFE regs. Felons owning firearms, gang bangers intimidating the neighborhood firing shots on the corner, etc.

Your tip is anonymous, your IP address is not.

I'd have to get a warrant to find out who it belongs to. Anonymous tips are just that. Crime Stoppers tips, especially. I get those blind, no idea who the tip came from, no way to know except it came from Crime Stoppers.

I don't think he's saying you'll know who sent it, just that if you wanted to, you could find out who sent it.

As for this program, I'm on the fence. I realize that they mean well, but they're going about it the wrong way. I can see people sending in tips about private sales and the PD chasing it down. :( I hope someone thinks about this and decides to cancel the program, otherwise we're no better than NJ, NY, all those states that enacted these same programs.

Why hasn't anyone else thought of drive-thru window gun shops? It combines my desire to get a new gun and be lazy at the same time. Just think of the menu board!

I think the concern here is that crappy neighbors will turn you in for any activity firearms related. Since they might not know or care what is legal or not. And I would bet that a tip in any one of those three categories will at the least cost you a new door and some new under ware when SWAT comes in a blazing. Slippery slope.

haha. Although it would be much faster and easier to do ammo and accessories. No NICS check.

You could make it a process where you fill out the NICS form online. Then when it's approved they call you and you drive thru, sign the form, and pay for the gun. :D
