I was carrying when I went in to have the baby. Just sayin'

Not at Clarian North. It was Methodist. But I've never entered a hospital that had metal detectors either.

It's IU Health now, not Clarian, and there is a no firearms policy as well as signs at every entrance. If you CC and are dicscovered, Safety and Security will escort you from the building to disarm.

Also, if you ever try to go into the Methodist ED after normal business hours, you will have to pass through metal detectors and possibly be wanded by Safety & Security.

Give it another 10 years, by that time they will have burnt through the money again and need to piggy back on another University or file a name change to rid themselves from the creditors.

I remember about 3 years ago, when I helped open Clarian Arnett, the one on 65 in Lafayette. They had to change it from a FOR PROFIT hospital to a NOT FOR PROFIT a week or two before it was scheduled to open.

The reasoning? The taxes due upon opening would have bankrupted them.

    Go team go.

There's only one hospital in Indiana that is illegal to carry in and that's not the one.

    Carry Away. :)

I'm not sure where you get your information but we are not part of IU and we don't take any money from the university, in fact just the opposite. IU Health donates over $75,000,000 (that's 75 million dollars) to the IU School of Medicine each year, we partner with IU on literally thousands of research projects, we give all those aspiring doctors, nurses, and technicians someplace to work and train, not to mention that last year we gave out over $200,000,000 (that's 200 million dollars) in charity care.

As far as the status change of the hospitals, our beloved president passed something called "The Affordable Care Act" a.k.a Obamacare which makes it impossible to expand a for profit facility. We knew early on that we would expand that facility so the decision was made to make it a not for profit before it opened. IU Health North and West have since converted to not for profit as well.

First off CONGRATS on your new grandson. :D I know most hospitals post a sign that says no fireams allowed. At least all the Community Hospitals do.

Against policy, no signs at IUN. Signs at Riley, Methodist, and St Vs, but I always ignore them. I have spent weeks many times at Riley and always carried. I just took a lock box to put it in while sleeping and didn't shower unless my wife was in the room with the lock box.

I would often have to go out to the Wilson parking garage in the middle of the night and that place is a bad guys playground. I won't go unarmed. Plus there are plenty of DCS case trash there to worry about IN the hospital.

Does "giving out charity care" mean not being paid for services rendered, or is that an actual funded program that establishes clinics, performs surgeries, etc... I'm just curious.

Our uncompensated care that the .gov forces us to provide should be considered a charitable contribution and thus tax deductible, but of course it's not. I personally provide more uncompensated care than I bring home at the end of the year. That's hundreds of hours of forced "community service" by the .gov. At least let me deduct that from my freaking taxes rather than being a slave.

Actually both. We provide care to folks that can't pay but we also are at least part owner of HealthNet, a company that provides medical care clinics in some of the financially struggling areas of the community.

Which hospital is illegal to carry in?
    thanks

I believe it is Wishard because of the county jail extension there. That being said, I see inmates in orange scrubs being shuffled in and out of the Methodist EMTC every so often. Must be when Wishard is full.

Arnett opened before Obama was even elected.

They "work closely together" so they both reap the benefits. The hospital gets access to all the students, and clinical trials for meds, as well as piggy backing on the University name for posterity. They are trying to become the Mayo Clinic, or Cleveland Clinic.
