I have an old CS Tanto that I got for Christmas 20+ years ago. The steel is still great, but the handle is coming apart. It is something like neoprene, that has broken down over the years and is gummy and sticky - leaving black residue on your hands after handling.

Can anybody recommend resources to help me replace the handle wrap? Has anyone taken the rubber handle off one of these before?

FYI, I contacted Cold Steel a few days ago and they responded today saying that they have a $20 service that will refurbish the knife including replacing the handle, sharpening and polishing the blade. For twenty, I'll send it back to Mama to be fixed.
