Couple of friends remarked that I had an exhaust leak.
So I took it to a muffler shop to see if it was leaking.
It was, so I had them replace it but it sounded like a truck.
So I asked if they had a better quality muffler as it was too noisy.
They replaced it but it's still too noisy.
It has a loud resonance noise at certain throttle/power settings.
Should I take it back again or what?
To me, it wasn't noisy at all when I took it in.

are you sure its the muffler and not cracked headers?

Did you buy a cheap muffler to save $$$ or did you ask for a quality replacement?
Maybe you've got a kickass hotrod that deserves to breathe...

What you are probably hearing is considered drone.. What type of muffler did they put on and what type of vehicle is it?

Depending on where the exhaust tips exit the drone could be increased by the tips being too far under the car causing noise to bounce off the ground thus amplifying ...

Why not get an original equipment muffler? Seems like that would be the best solution, though it might cost a little more.

Though I might not be the best person to ask. I paid someone to rip the muffler off of my Charger R/T and run pipes straight back to the resonators. I'm not sure what this phrase, "too noisy" means. :)

I have had new mufflers mellow with a little bit of time. Maybe the heat/cool cycles change the response of the vibrations.....or my hearing is going away.

Okay let me expand on this.
It's a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan. The first and second muffler was installed by Ralph's Muffler shop. Before they installed the second muffler I asked if they had a better quality muffler, it was noisy.
This second one is quite unless I'm pushing on the power in a certain way.
It kind of sounds like it's pushing on the frame or floor when under a load.
I'm going to take it back tomorrow and take the manager for a ride.
Maybe he can find a solution.

With the original muffler, before the leak developed, you couldn't hear the engine at all or at least I couldn't.

You are on the right track to take it back until it is done right. Make sure the flex pipe isn't broken.

I did exhaust work for living when I lived in Alabama. The sound you get once it is installed is pretty much what your stuck with. It is possible that you have the muffler or piping touching the frame, that does send a weird noise into the vehicle.

I very rarely ever installed exact replacements. I kept a large variety of mufflers in stock to fit just about any vehicle.

The best job I did was on a County Police car. The Sheriff sent a deputy in for me to remove the Catalytic Converters and put "Test" pipes on it to see if they were stopped up. I told the deputy it was against the law to remove them but would do it if they gave me a get out of jail free card. He called them "Test Pipes". I said you and I both know your not coming back to get them replaced.

I did install the test pipes on both sides on the Crown Vic with the Police Interceptor in it. The deputy came back the next for me to replace the factory stamped mufflers because it had a wooshy sound. He said the Sheriff said not to make it too loud. I put a set of turbo flo mufflers on it. That was one of the best sounding cars in town.

All of the other police officers wanted me to do the same to their cars but the Sheriff wouldn't give them a Purchase Order to get the work done.

I miss that line of work. I got to see all the new hot rods that were put together. They would bring them to me for the exhaust work.

I got underneath the car and looked at the exhaust system, and what they did was they installed two mufflers in tandem along with a new hanger.
So there's two mufflers and a resonator on one exhaust pipe.
    Works for me I guess.
