Yellow lab, 8 weeks old, so far seems to have the makings of a great dog for the family. Hopefully I'll be getting some sleep over the next few nights...

Gotta love them labs. I have two yellow labs and a mutt mix.

I'm puppy sitting an 8 week old boxer pup tonight. I'm hoping I get some sleep.

Makes me want to get a pup to keep the 6yr old lab/pit mix we have at home now. Congrats! Keep an eye on your boots...

My chocolate lab just turned a year a few days ago. That pup won't be sleeping like that for long. This is mine on her first night at home.

    That's a great looking pup!!
We have a yellow lab, almost three, great dogs. For the first year or so, buy him LOTS of things to chew on to save your furniture, shoes and perhaps parts of the house.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. A stock tip for y'all since you're so nice: buy stock in Bounty paper towels and carpet cleaner... been going through it. Otherwise he's great.

BTW, he's a male, decided to name him 'Marty'.

Labs are great family dogs. We have two and both are great with kids. They are VERY active and love to chew, especially for the first two years or so. Another tip, buy some racquet balls. They love to chew them and chase them, too. A racquet ball and a flight of stairs or big back yard will keep both of you busy for hours.

If I had it to do over again, I would have gotten a pair of them. My year old lab wants to play with my 14 year old Russell mix and 13 year old pug. Neither of them want anything to do with the lab.
