    Well, it took longer than expected, but I just ordered one today. I'll have it next week. Hopefully it comes early. I'm off work for the first couple days next week. If it does, I'll have time to mount the Leupold 2x7 scope and a range trip. ;)

    I think that'll be a great gun. Looking forward to pics and a report on how it handles and shoots!

    Now, they need to build a Grendel version of it. 20" or so bbl, Grendel AR mags. THAT would be sweet.

    Picked it up late today. Spent an hour degunking it. Never seen so much oil on a bolt action. Lol. Got the obligatory A2 flash hider installed. Then the Leupold 2x7 scope.
    Just enough time to take this pic;

    Sweet, compact package. Be a few days before I get it to the range, but looking forward to it.

    I was interested in the 7.62x39 but seen they use Mini 30 mags instead of AR 7.62x39 mags so lost interest. If they make an option to buy a mag well to go with AR mags for the 7.62x39 i would get one.

    That would be pretty cool. I bet they'd sell out every year for at least the next 20 or so.

    That would be a heck of a nice hog hunting rifle! What does it weigh with the scope?

    I sent Ruger an Email about this and got this reply.

    "Thank you for contacting Ruger Customer Service.
    Your Customer Service Issue # is 10204479

    *****,

    The AR-Style magazine well conversion kits are sold through customer service for $19.95 plus $6.00 shipping and handling. Please be advised, we have not tested this model with the AR Style conversion, however the AR Style conversion will accept any AR style magazine. We also do not offer the AR Style magazines for the 7.62x39 and the magazines would need to be purchased after market.

    You may reach us at 336-949-5200, option 3 and option 2 (Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm EST) and provide the serial # to your firearm to place an order.

    Thank you for your interest in Ruger.

    Ruger Customer Service"

    So now we need someone to test it out see if they work. Now my interest in this rifle is back again.

    Little range trip this morning. Everything functioned correctly.:D I only shot three round groups at 50yds, since it's not really a bench rest rifle. This was the best group with black hills match 69gr. 7/16"

    these were the last three groups with federal XM193

    that middle group is actually 3 shots. hard to tell in pic, but the top hole is elongated. It was a lucky group, most of that ammo averaged about an inch, or just under.

    So far, I'm happy with it. :yesway:

    I'm also thinking about getting this mag carrier to carry a couple 10 rd mags;

    Remounted the scope to move it back a little. Took it to the range for a quick check on zeroing.

    Only shot about 30 rounds, but it shot better than Saturday. Maybe barrel is settling in??? Groups with the XM193 were 1/2" to 3/4/".

    Shot one group with some 20 year old Lake City reman 55gr soft point that was 5/8".

    Again, just 3 shot groups at 50 yds by an old man with bifocals, but this little thing can shoot. :yesway:

    The action has been loosening up a little with use. ;)

    Just got done giving the barrel its first full cleaning. I'll get it out this weekend for a follow up shooting.

    I reviewed one of the ranch rifles in 5.56 when they first came out and was extremely impressed. I just recently started looking back into them and noticed they now offer that rifle in 6.5 Grendel so I had to pick one up to try out.
