I had to go to the courthouse in Danville today. I noticed signs stuck in the ground that said something to the effect that starting on 12/5/2011, there is only one entrance allowed on the west side, and that there is "airport" style security check there. I knew enough not to bring my pistol, but they stopped me and made me take my 1.5 inch key-chain knife back to the car after they took pictures of it. It was raining outside so I suggested they hang onto it while I conduct my business for an hour or so, but nope, I had to take it to the car. It looked like Hendricks County Sheriff people manning the security.

No firearms in the courthouse know...I'm glad we are paying OT prolly for them to man the entrance of the courthouse. And they wonder why some are rebelling alittle.

See why we need to back as much preemption legislation as we can? Local municipalities will NOT honor the second amendment and will restrict carry wherever they can!

Sucks that it is still "legal" for them to do this.

What a waste of taxpayers dollars.

Just a note, it is becoming more of the trend. Typically if you come to the court house you will see angry people. Along with the courts, it's going to happen.

Yes of course, because when someone gets angry enough to shoot and end someone's life I'm sure they will take into consideration the NO GUN zone and their would-be victims will be non the wiser.

At the absolute very least there should be a weapon checkpoint with lockboxes so I don't have to leave it in my unattended vehicle and be unarmed going to and fro the building. But in reality there should be NO reason LTCH holders should be disallowed to carry anywhere that is public property. A checkpoint to make sure I have a license for it? Fine. But I get to keep it on me.

It seemed odd that there were all kinds of signs about the new security checkpoint, but nothing about guns and knives not being allowed. I can understand not wanting guns in the courthouse. There were prisoners being escorted in and out but a tiny key chain knife seems pretty ridiculous. Good thing I wasn't carrying my nail clippers!

I'm good with that but what I was meaning was that there is such larger chance of some type of problem happening there than most places.

Agreed! All the more reason to have it on me. Our government often takes the opposite stance they should for public safety.

We are NOT safer with fewer guns. We are safer when there are fewer criminals that wish to prey on the weak.
