    Not far from the tree
It was not the 10 rings that made the man evil, its the heart of the man.

The rings could be used for evil if a heart is greedy, or good if the heart is honest.

Hollywood understands that about powerful supernatural rings but not a firearm?
Hollyweird understands what it wants to understand. It is, however , much more comfortable with fantasy it can control than with reality that it cannot.

I'll probably skip this marvel offering, same with Eternals and Blackwidow.
    Just a little obscure.

Spiderman looks pretty good with Dr. Strange in Dec. so I'm going to see those.
Venom 2 is coming out in Oct. so I'm down for that one.

So just out of curiousity was the movie rife with wokeness above and beyond the original storyline?
No, not at all. There were some strong women characters but nothing preachy. But there was a subtle rebuke of underachievers aimed at the millennials and GEN Y who aim at nothing.

I thought it was a fun ride with a decent plot and message.

Remember, The Guardians of the Galaxy were obscure too before you loved them. I can't speak for black widow but Shang Chi was a fun movie with some great martial arts fighting. It was funny too.

I'd love to see GOTG Vol III but I haven't figured out how they're going to make it work with all of the different plots in the Marvel Universe. I guess there's always the infinity stone to do some time traveling. . . . .

I really like the movie. Much better than their last couple offerings.
The fight choreographer was the only white man to train under Bruce Lee.
The figh scenes were awesome. Reminiscent of old Jackie Chan movies.

You're expecting sense from Hollywood, who still makes cocking noises in films and TV when Glocks are pulled and/or always has "operators" chambering a round prior to going into any situation because God knows you can't carry a weapon with one in the chamber... :ugh:

    Just saw Eternals...
I'll give it a solid "Meh" out of 4 stars.

Should have went to Dune instead.

Glad you posted that. I'll wait for it to be free to watch on HBO Max. Dune was decent. I watched it free on HBO Max and then went to see it in the theater and it definitely was better on the big screen. Some annoying elements and it was pretty slow, but it's setting the stage for future films and has promise.

    Near the big river.
Been a Dune fan for quite awhile. read the 13-14 books in the series several times. Looked forward to the new movie and saw it on the big screen. I thought it was well done, liked the people cast in the various roles. Though Paul was not exactly right but it seemed to work.

After Jason Mamoa was killed, my wife grabbed her purse and said " Well this is over for me!". :dunno:
