One shot in a dark room and that would be like a flash/bang grenade
Nah, lot's of modern defensive handgun ammo uses flash suppressed powder. It would be loud, but the difference between this and a 9mm or 40 in an enclosed space is not nearly as much as the difference between this and an AR pistol, which actually would seem like a flash bang.

9mm, 40 or 45 suits my needs for defensive purposes against 2 legged predators, but this looks awfully good for a woods gun in black bear or mountain lion country.

Very interesting. I've never been a huge XD fan, but I'm happy to see more 10mm options hitting the market, and I like the small form-factor. I'm assuming the XD uses traditional rifling, so you can shoot cast bullets out of it, unlike the Glocks? I've been waiting for Sig to release a P320 in 10mm, but if they don't get around to it this might be a viable alternative.
