Alright I have never really messed with scopes a bunch never really purchased a "nice" scope. Alright this is my question what type of scope should I look for I ordered a PTR-91 yesterday and am looking to put a good scope on it, now it is the 18" barrel version .308 and I want to make this a reliable 300+ yarder
what scope should I be looking for as far as power? also what about the scope mount and rings which brands of scope rings are better or is there such a thing? I have seen the scope kit in magazines that have everything to "true" the mounts so it does not put the scope in a bind, any advice on these questions would be appreciated! Thanks!:D

depending on price range i would look at the supersniper 10 or 16x. as far as trueing the rings i believe you are talking about lapping the rings. its helpfull but not a must

Beat me to it. SS is a great scope for the price, you can learn mils and range, buy the Mil-Master to learn your distances. Indygunworks can lap rings for fairly cheap he is on this sight, just hit him up.

if you buy good rings for the most part you will never need to lap them. by larue or something to their quality and you won't have to worry.

as far as the scope goes what are you going to do with it? out to 300 imo just zero it at 300 yards/meters and then hold for the closer ranges. just aim a bit lower. really if your only going out to 300 -500 yards you will be fine with just holds.

if your going to get into long range shooting 500 plus and know very little of the sport start out with a mil/mil and mildot set up it will be much easier to learn for you and requires no math and makes it much easier once you get started

don't listen to indygunworks he sold his soul to the devil for math skills so he can convert everything no problem to his darn moa set up's

also what is your price range cause it all depends on who you talk to as what a good scope is and costs.
