    Well, I have purchased a new house out in the country with some land and no longer need my SHTF cabin. This is a great family getaway.

    When you are here, you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere and you almost are. To get to the property, you must turn onto a one lane gravel road and drive down to the end. The property is the second to last one on the right. Photos are in the link below, but here are the highlights:

    - Lots of privacy.
    - On the south fork of the Blue River with property extending into river.
    - While it is a cabin (not a house), it has been upgraded with central air, heat, 200 amp service, new septic (with last 7 years).
    - Has city water AND a working well pump on property.
    - Was originally built on metal posts, which have been removed and replace with a real foundation.
    - Comes will all appliances.
    - Garden plot which will grow anything.

    I've had a couple PM's with questions, so here are the answers for everyone to see:

    Q - Is it in a flood plain? A - No. During this Spring, the area got a ***** ton of rain. The water did come up over the second bank, but was no close to the house.
    Q - Is the block foundation new? A - Yes. The cabin was originally built on metal posts. When we purchased it, we realized home owners insurance was higher because it didn't have a permanent foundation. The cabin was lifted (by professionals), a concrete footer was poured and the block work was done. It is properly connected with metal straps to the foundation.
    Q - Is there a building behind the carport? A - Yes. The building behind the carport is a garage / storage shed with a concrete floor and electric. I believe it would be considered a one and 1/2 car, but don't know for sure. It does not have a garage door installed, but has an opening for one, which is currently covered over with metal sheeting. I use it as a shop / place to keep additional stuff.
    Q - How is the road to get to the property? A - It is a gravel road and there are some areas where it has washed out some. If you have a SUV, 4X4 or a decent car, you can make it. My wife has a Mazda 5 which can make it, but you got to have some sense about you. This winter her car would not have made it, but fortunately we are a Jeep family, with a couple to choose from so there were no issues.

    Just an FYI, there is a difference between being in a flood plain and not getting flooded. You can be in a flood plain, but never realize standing water or a flood. If you are in a flood plain, even though you have never flooded, you are still required to obtain and maintain flood insurance during the period of your mortgage/bank note.
