Hi all. Been out of circulation due to the passing of my father. Getting back into living again ... Question ... I live in the country and am somewhat an insomniac. LOVE to spy on the critters roaming about and photgraphy is a fairly recent hobby. Thinking about getting some night vision goggles. Anyone have any recommendations? Any preference for monocular or binocular? Thanks in advance for any info / insight / recommendations. -GEM-

It depends on what you get/are going to use it for. If you're going to get a head mounted setup, then you'll want a mono. If just a hand held version and aren't going to do any movement with them up, then a bino should be fine.

Using only one eye on a head mount NVD allows you to look through only one with NV and the other is normal. What this does is gives you better depth perception for movement. As your brain processes the signal from the two visions it'll seem as though you're looking at everything in NV but with depth perception. If you ever try walking through wilderness, or in general for that matter with binos, you'll see what I mean. If both eyes are covered you will have no good depth perception.

Thanks. I wear monovision contact lenses so I do think I understand what you mean. Thx for the insight. Much appreciated.
