    I've heard people talk about making the first round birdshot (in case of that misidentification issue) and then following it up with 00 buck (once you've determined it is indeed a bad guy). Got to agree with the training advice above all though.

    That's what I was thinking! Glad you spoke up.

    I just got the rubber battons for the novelty. Hoped to watch them bounce off the targets. The directions say to shoot it at the ground so it bounces. Haven't found a range that will let me try it !

    As for HD how about just using number 4 buck for reduced drywall penetration with retaining stopping power. YMMV
