    I've heard the Snappers go into the holes headfirst, which is why that isn't a problem. I don't know. I'd probably reach in and find the one turtle that preferred to do things differently.

    Whole bunch of nope. I've seen some very large snapping turtles in the rivers. The bigger ones could pretty easily take a hand off. No way am I reaching my hand into a dark hole and not knowing what's in it.

    I've caught lots of snapping turtles in Indiana and there is no way I would stick my hand in a hole in a muddy river to catch a catfish! That's how people loose fingers! Catching a catfish is much more fun sitting in a lawn chair with a pole baited with chicken live, relaxing and eating a ham sandwich! That's the life!
