This is why I carry to the casino, check it at the door, and ALWAY pay attention to who's around me when I have a winning session.

When I have a BIG win, I either get a lock box for the chips at the casino and cash it out another day, or have security escort me to my room.

Is it unlawful to carry in a casino in Indiana? I just looked at in.gov and couldn't find anything there. I've never been concerned with it before because I've never been to a casino.

Yes it is unlawful to carry a gun in a casino in Indiana. They do however have to provide you with a secure location to leave it while you are gambling though. I don't have the specific section of the IC in front of me, but I am sure someone will come along soon and either post it or a link to it, or both.

He failed. Apparently he didn't bring a weapon with him at all. The robber probably would have thought twice had he seen him pick it up at the exit.

It doesn't do any good if you don't even bother to bring it along...checked or unchecked. But it was southern California. The guy probably didn't have a gun anyway.

If I have several thousand dollars in my car, I'm not stopping. I'm thinking ramming speed.

Yeah, I realize that you can check your gun at the door, but, and this is just a guess, that particular law probably makes a lot of casino goers "just leave it at home", simply because they don't wanna deal with the hassle. I don't go to casinos very often, but I would definately check my gun at the door, rather than not take it at all. Gun free zones just invite criminal activity, period, and I will never be able to wrap my mind around the logic that goes into creating gun free zones.

It's not all casinos, just the ones that are considered "riverboat" ones, yea odd law I know but the law is the law even if it doesn't make any sense whatsoevah.

I don't go to the local casino except on rare occasions like when celebrating someones B-day or anniversary or when I want really really good sushi (they have amazing sushi at one of the restaurants there) but when I do go I always carry & I have never had a problem.

IC only states Riverboat casinos. I've carried in Indiana Live before. I wouldn't OC there though. I'm not sure if they provide weapons storage or not, never asked.

I always make it a point to OC into whatever casino I go to (usually a stainless 1911 to make a point). Then when you get to the check in window, they look at you like you're from Jupiter when you tell them that you need to check BOTH your guns. BUT, I'm like CRU and always try to get a lock box if I have a good session. Most of the time, I'll find a buddy to go with too.....saftey in numbers.

Be careful where you carry concerning riverboat versus casino. I thought I was good to go at French Lick because it couldn't possibly be a riverboat, but no, it's a riverboat.....
That is no riverboat. It at least used to "kinda look" like one. It's just a building with a little water around it.
"They" can call it what they want. It don't float, it ain't a boat!

Physically, yes, the French Lick casino isn't a boat. Legally, it was the only way French Lick could get the casino before the legislature allowed land locked casinos. It's still on the books as a riverboat casino. No carry there.

Like I said in the other thread, as far as Live and Hoosier Park are concerned, concealed means concealed. YMMV, IANAL, carry at your own risk.

As a dealer in a casino I agree with this law ....I know most feel like they have lost there manhood by not being able to carry in a casino ..(only place I dont carry cause i work there) .
The reason why I support this law is because of the number of times I have had some Idiot that has no clue how to play a game walk up to me and loose thousands of dollars , then thearten to kill me and my family because he is stupid ,.
Now this dont happen on a daily basis but in the 12 years I have been a dealer it has happened several times .
most of the time the fool goes to jail (depending on the dealer they threaten ) .

I can tell everyone this ..gambling is a MUCH worse addiction than any drug ...when you watch some fool spend 3 or 4 days at the same table without any sleep or a bath loose everything they own then threaten to kill the person that just took there last dollar you will realise sometimes a GUN FREE ZONE is a good thing ...
hell i have to leave mine in the car and as an employee I have to walk almost a half mile to my car ,,,, atleast you can pick yours up at the door on your way out .:ranton:

And the casino is a wonderful thing  Our economy is doing GREAT! Drug dealing is at an all time high in the county and, oh, and the other night I had a patient come to the ER who'd tried to hang himself with his shoestrings cause he lost all his money at the casino and is addicted.
I ain't no Orange Shirt. :noway:
