The bills sponsor Murray said he didn't read his own bill, but he signed it. Have to wonder how many of the other politicans do the same thing.

"We have to pass the bill so we can find out what's in it." -Nancy Pelosi

    Sound familiar?

I seriously hope more of these hard-core liberals will stand up and show their true colors, like the ones proposing this insanity. This very kind of thing lends to sympathy more toward freedom and independence rather than tyranny and socialism.

I was just cleaning it officer. See, I'm home, and under my immediate supervision that is considered securely stored. That's all that's required for me to carry a handgun in public with a license, isn't it?

The bill says the Sheriff "may" search annually. This is where those elected get to step up and do what is right by opting not to do any such thing.

I'd like to think this wouldn't survive the court challenge...

It won't have to. It will never get passed into law as written. Seriously, when the bill's author backs out, how much chance do you think it has of passing? Its so unpopular he'd rather look stupid and say he didn't read his own bill than own up to his blatant disregard for the 4th and look tyrannical.

Wonder how he'll do in his next primary?

Looks like Sen. Murray tried to sneak one in under the radar, and got caught. Can you imagine that conversation? Well, let's put that in there and see if anyone notices, if they don't Yea Me!!. If the do, we'll blame it on the kid in the mail room and claim ignorance.
Alright, I'm not buying. He knew it was there. Probably dictated to his secretary personally. Nice try, but people are watching.

Most. Both parties. It's part of how we end up with some of the legislation that we do.

    Also:
He said he came to realize that an assault-weapons ban has little chance of passing this year anyway. So he put in this bill more as “a general statement, as a guiding light of where we need to go.” Without sweating all the details.

This tells me that was EXACTLY what he wanted to see. He's just calling it a mistake to take the heat off. Anyone that believes that A$$-hat for anything that he says is a fool. He's backtracking because he got caught. :nono:

If you believe that, I've got a piece of property about a 100 mile south of Key West to sell you. I'm old enough to remember when the speed limit was enacted in Indiana. In the paper the officials stated it would not be used to ticket people driving over the limit in safe conditions. It was needed to stop drivers going high speeds in inclement weather, snow or ice as there were no way to cite those people without this law. about 15 years later I received a ticket for going 72 in a 65 zone on a divided highway on a sunny summer day in a brand new car. Same type statements were used for the seat belt law. Once on the books, the "officials" WILL use almost any law to obtain funds, and gain POWER.
