But I should not talk bad about the user I'm still holding on to my beloved desktop going on 8 years now.
Why is it that mankind holds on to their machines like their were alive and we have such a hard time giving them up (ie. cars, phones, PCs, etc..)

Because it is a machine you built with your own two hands. It isn't like a kid that can be easily replaced. You can't ever put the same parts in it, and even identical parts can't be over clocked to the same spec.

OK that doesn't work as well on the internet.

Is there any advantage to pleading no contest? Anybody know if I can get a deferral?

I'm sorry to hear that. I don't have anything right now but if I do have something that comes up you'll be the first one to call.

Grab the Recov CD image on a working computer and load that onto a flash drive then. Only reason I can think to boot into a LiveCD would be to grab personal files for backup, etc, maybe to check to see if any other hardware is failing. Otherwise just use a recovery USB.

Oh if it was mine I would have a long time ago. Actually I do have an old TOSHIBA that should have this done to it as well. Bad power connector on it and it cost way too much to fix it for such an old machine. But that is another story. I really should not have touched that laptop yesterday was in a foul mood and working on it (not something I wanted to do) did not help.

@aclark IJRC I don't think the BIOS had a USB boot option but I could be wrong. This latop still has a floppy drive built in for crying out loud!
