Maybe it takes very little for me to be appalled or alarmed at some of the news articles I read but I think this is a such an over-reach of Gov't power and intrusion into the life of a citizen who only wants to grow food on her own property. This is the first I've heard of someone getting a citation and possible sentence of 93 days in jail for growing a garden on their own property. Our freedoms are eroding faster than we can hang on to them.

I'm wondering if they'll throw me in jail for raising chickens, rabbits & a dairy goat on my own land....

Yep, she decided to exercise her right to a trial by jury and the city ups the charges. Sounds like big brother scare tactics to me. :noway:

If they come to my house they will want to put me away for 10 years just for the tomato plants alone not to mention the peppers.

Saw the pic in the article and now I know the problem- her yard looks better than her neighbors.

The only vegetables I would get rid of in this situation are the city officials and the lady's neighbors.

This is ludicrous! They own the property, as long as no one is in any reasonable physical danger they should be allowed to do as they please on their own land!
