I loaded a few 62 grain bullets into some .223 cases last night. The Lee reloading book doesn't list Varget powder for a 62 grain bullet, but it does for 63 grain. I read somewhere if the powder wasn't listed for 62 grain, using the 63 grain scale would be ok. So I used the 63 grain scale and the minimum OAL of 2.200. I took another look tonight and the minimum OAL listed in the Lee book for 62 grain bullets is 2.250. The rounds I have are at 2.243-2.247.

Which OAL should I have used?

2.250 to 2.260 is magazine length for the AR. Your loads are 3 to 7 thousandths of an inch shorter. It won't cause any problem. I once shot an entire highpower season with my 69's seated to 2.240 because I wasn't paying attention. It didn't matter one little whit.

Your lengths are within the margin for length. I always worry that they might be too long and not fit in the mag.

3 to 7 thousandths won't have an effect on pressure if you are asking that. Shoot them with no worry.
