Lehrer attempted to feed obama talking points to keep him on message.

A Debate is simply a mano-a-mano thing. He lost. Period. He would have gotten much more cred from the American people had he just manned up and said "I had an off night, I'll be back with a vengeance.". Somehow taking responsibility for it is beneath him.

It's not that taking responsibility is beneath him. He honestly doesn't see that he is culpable or responsible. Why should he say he's sorry for something he didn't do? He doesn't know how to apologize because in his mind he's never wrong.
