However, I'm actually interested in seeing how Fox News will explain why paid sick time is evil and unamerican.

Or, since this is a ridiculous straw-man, they could explain why government-mandated paid sick time is evil and unamerican, which is both true and the real issue of debate.

Hey, I own a piece of a small business. I gladly pay a good wage for the work that is done even when others get paid when the owners do not.

Someone explain to me why it is NOT evil and unamerican to force me to pay a good wage for NO WORK!

It's constitutionality should be the issue, not the moral opinion.

EVERY law is an expression of someone's morality. "Can't legislate morality" rubbish. What you can't legislate is the internal adoption of someone else's morality. Morality is made an matter of law every day.

He had 6 years to come up with this and magically decides to do it just when the GOP takes over Congress. He is as phony as they come. I will say, any fool could have figured out years ago that he wants to turn us into a European style socialist country. (only because he can't go as far as making us look like the old USSR) So this is no surprise.

Are we going to launch into a theoretical discussion about Constitutionality? I mean, we may make each other feel better by giving virtual back rubs about how crazy it is that some many things are called Constitutional that are nowhere in the Constitution....but who cares? We have to defeat laws like this based upon the sad reality we find ourselves in, not some theoretical better place we all wish existed.

If it has been held that the federal government can mandate medicare contribution by employers, minimum wage, overtime, breaks, healthcare, etc......how is we think that the courts will not find this Constitutional IF IT IS PASSED?

Here's the key- don't pass it regardless of what a court will say about Constitutionality. The law is a bad idea. Which brings me back to my question: how is it right, moral, or just that I would be mandated to pay for NO WORK?

Jobs are nothing more than agreements. You agree to give up your time, in exchange for some money. There are other terms you agree on. Sometimes the agreement includes paid days off, sometimes not.

One way or the other, it is not relevant to morality. A job opportunity that doesn't come with PTO is not an example or immorality or injustice. Its voluntary, and you agreed!

When the government uses force to dictate the terms of private contracts, that is when freedom wanes and immorality begins.

Is this for full time workers only? I believe a lot of full time workers will be moved down to 38 hrs if companies are forced to comply with this. Which will allow the employer to not provide any health benefits at all, pushing even more to barrycare. Wooohhhooo!

Kind of like when they dictate the terms of a private contract between an individual and their health insurance company or when they force an individual into that private contract under threat of a tax penalty.

Obama meddling in things he knows nothing about as usual. Since he has never owned or operated a business only his own arrogance makes him believe he knows best.
