I would think our Gov. and Indiana as a whole, with its favorable rating as a place to do business in general and favorable gun laws specifically, would pursue these companies to relocate. Also would be an advantageuous distribution point than being on the east coast for any manufacturing still going on in these states.

    Some more:

    Savage Arms- Westfield, MA
    Mossberg- North Haven, CT
    Kahr Arms- Worcester, MA
    Charter Arms- Shelton, MA
    Ruger- HQ: Southport, CT

There is an entire region called New England's Gun Valley where a lot of gun manufacturers currently have HQs, manufacturing, or originated.

This makes no sense...these gun company's must have the worst lobbyist in the country to allow their home states to have such strict laws.

It reminds me of the fact that you can't drink Jack Daniels in the county it is made, because of being a dry county!

Its a historical thing. Most of these companies were started in the 1800s. The gun restrictions are from the latter 20th century.

Yeah if you look at a bunch of different companies, in the firearms industry, many are located in anti-states. I think that's just it, they employ people and ship stuff, not employ people and sell the stuff right on the street, in front of the factory. Many of the jobs are well paying union jobs, but alas, those are slowing going away. If you've ever ordered any parts from any of these companies, they to are held hostage waiting for shipments on parts from China.

As was stated above, these companies have been there for ages, long before their respective states became anti-gun. You should head over to Guns Magazine's site and check out their free downloads of old issues from about 50 years ago. It was a different world. In the last one I saw they were talking about Illinois' governor and his pro-gun stance. A lot has changed in 50 years. Not just in the now anti-gun states.

    Two more of significance:

Lewis Machine & Tool (LMT) - Milan, IL

    ArmaLite - Geneseo, IL

There was some noise made about the restrictive nature of Illinois back when I lived there (Gun makers say they'll leave state if weapons ban OK'd) but to my knowledge little if anything ever came of it.

I'm sure it will get better though once the Chicago machine installs Rahm Emmanuel as mayor and Daley's brother becomes Obama's new chief of staff (Richard Daley's Brother William -- Banker, Lobbyist, NAFTA Advocate -- May Be Obama's Next Chief Of Staff | Crooks and Liars)

The whole thing makes no sense whatsoever. Bring those jobs across the border to Indiana. We'll take you gladly!

A few years ago when the socialists in Illinois wanted another ropund of gun bans, Les Baer moved his operation to Iowa. Close enough I think to retain his employees. Also, Rock River Arms, a fine company is in Illinois. I have no doubt Emanuel will be at least as anti 2A as Daley is. Every time I see a clip of him on tv he seems to mention how he "stood up to the NRA". Certainly clarifies exactly what you can expect from him. Not to go way off thread, but watch him get in and have Obama give Chicago massive aid.

I would like to know if our Gov. has knocked on the door of any of these manufacturers to guage any interest like they do on foreign trade trips.

I dont think that the location of the guns manufacturers have to do with local gun laws.
Just look at Glock in Austria.Austrians can hardly own guns and cant carry them but that doesnt mean its a bad place for the company to produce their guns.
I would think its the same for american guns companies.
But in a way by being in those anti-gun states those companies support those anti-gun laws.
Im sure they could make some laws change if the threaten to move their factories to a more gun-friendly state.

Today on the radio, Don Davis said Glocks are made in Florida, have only 4 parts, and will go off if you touch the trigger. Among other ridiculous claims.....
