    Hey All,

I know that I may catch some flack for carrying an officer sized 1911, but I do. I have been looking all over the place for a good retention holster. I know that there are quite a few on the market, and some specifically made for 1911's, but I haven't been able to find any made for the smallest of the 1911's. Has anyone else had any luck with this issue?

I typically Open Carry, so concealability is not an issue. I also have to disarm for work, so ease of application and removal of the holster is a plus. I'm just looking for a holster that gives me more retention than my range holster that I am currently using (Drop-in kydex fobus). Any advice?

Buy a serpa and cut it down for the officers size barrel profile. Not much in the lines of "retention" as the officers size guns are mean for conceal-ability. Don't know of many custom gun leather guys who make thumb snaps for them either sadly.

Here are the OWB holsters I use for my RIA Officers 1911.
-Blackhawk CQC (cut down by 1" then heated w/ a very hot heat gun)
-Bianchi model 82 w/ lock retention (I really like this one, it has a finger lock on it)
-Don Hume model H721 (my go-to and favorite holster)
