    Sort of Old Ammo

I have this old ammo. It's been around the garage since the mid-70's
Some is in pretty good shape, Some is pretty grungy.

2 boxes of Winchester 38 Colt New Police - Boxes are falling apart but the ammo looks pretty fresh

1 box of Super-X .45 auto. - Box and ammo look good

1 box of Winchester 9mm Luger - Looks good

1 box of Savage .32 auto - Box is sealed - Good graphics but fading

1 box of Peters 22 Long - Box is sealed and looks great.

I don't know how to price this so just looking for your input.
What would you do with it?

Here is a link to the pics.

    Thanks, Randy

I would shoot it. Why do you think it has an collector value? Because it is 40 years old?

I don't see how you have anything special there.

I will give you 5 bucks for the box of 32 Auto.

I wouldn't know for sure one way or the other, but I've seen empty ammo boxes sell on GunBroker for $30!

That's right, $30 for an EMPTY box!

I've also seen empty rifle and pistol boxes selling for $15-$50. :dunno:

My advice: Put it on GunBroker, each box as a separate item. Start it at a relatively low price with no reserve on a 2 week auction. You will walk away with what it is worth to the someone who values it the most. In the end, value is the price upon which buyer and seller can agree.

If I slow down a bit Mgderf, I realize you are right. Since I was a young married man in the Army in the 1970's I don't consider anything from then to be old.

    But of course it is.:)

I have some 45 Colt ammo in the original 1903 Frankfort Arsenal packaging and some 45acp ammo from the 1920's and 30's. I consider that old.

It is just a matter of perspective....

I am frequently reminded, when looking at things that I consider relatively new, that it is only because I have become, well...not as "new" as I used to be. :)

The 38, 9 and 45 I would shoot and put the boxes on gunbroker. The ammo does not have a unique head stamp so it would be more trouble than worth to ship it. The 38 box is pretty tore up but might bring a buck or 2 because it is a western X. The 45 box I have seen go for over 10.00 empty in my area (currently PA for another 4 weeks) but my be different in your area, the 9mm would be lower because it is a Winchester X. The other two I would sell as they are. Like Indydave said I would start it low and see how it plays out, worst thing that could happen is that they keep taking up space on your shelf.

    Anytime I'm asked about age, I give one, or maybe both of the following responses;

50 is not old, if you're a tree.

    Or,

Age is mostly a matter of mind,
if you don't mind, then it doesn't matter,
