I am coming to Indy for a few months, have my Ohio concealed handgun license and will be staying in Fishers. I will probably be there for up to six months, working, helping my girl sell her house so that we can both come back to Ohio. I've read and searched and so on and would like to hear some tips / useful information that I should know during my extended stay.

    Thanks

    Donnie.

Pretty laid back here. I just wouldn't try walking around downtown across from the City County Building with an MP5.

OC might get you some looks, but legal. Some stores might ask you to leave. Simon Malls to be on the top of my mind. I know that the Northside tends to have more sheeple than the country does, that's kinda Indpls more foo-foo area. And those folks might not be used to it. Just my couple of pennies though.

Also, know that you're not allowed to buy any handguns while you're in IN.

And if you want to purchase a long-gun, it has to go through an FFL.

enjoy your stay. Lots of good eateries in the north / NE sides of town.

All this talk about food and I forgot to mention I'm a blue blooded Texan. I've only been in OH for 5 years. So . .. I'll be needing me some good authentic Mexican food and a good Steak House.

Ummm, unless you are from a state that mandates concealment.

    Let's look at the statute:

    IC 35-47-2-21

Recognition of retail dealers' licenses and licenses to carry handguns issued by other states

Sec. 21. (a) Retail dealers' licenses issued by other states or foreign countries will not be recognized in Indiana except for sales at wholesale.
    (b) Licenses to carry handguns, issued by other states or foreign countries, will be recognized according to the terms thereof but only while the holders are not residents of Indiana.

So, if you are from Florida you have to wear black socks and eat dinner at 4:00PM. If you are from Texas, then you have to wear a big, silly hat and pointy elf boots and say "Howdy, pardner" a lot.

And, if your license says concealment is a term of the license, then you must conceal while in Indiana.

    I'm a blue blooded Texan

What, praytell, is that? A blue-blooded Texan? So you live in the Ewing Mansion that was taken to Beacon Hill? "I say, mummy, pass the brisket and hot sauce. It's tea time!"

    Mexican:

    La Frontera
    Acapulco Joe's
    El Sol De Tala
    Puerto Vallanta
    El Camino

    Steak:

    Fogo de Chao
    St. Elmo's
    14 West
    Dunaway's
    Eddie Merlot
    Broad Ripple Steakhouse

Which would be why I put "concealed" in bold in my OP.

Yeah, I kinda blew that one.. I was thinking true and full blooded at the same time..
