Anyone else in the mindset that once the shininess of the new AR-15 that the normally non-gun hysteria buyers bought wears off, one will be able to acquire an AR-15 or a stripped receiver at a good price again? There are folks that will have bills to pay and an unfired or rarely fired rifle sitting in the closet. Yes, it's a gamble. The only AR I have had the opportunity to buy after a run on the gunstores has been an entry level AR DPMS for $1500 from a private seller. Can't say I own one right now, sorry to say, but I'm pretty sure I will one day. If the prices stay where they are at, as long as they are not banned there will always be something for sale. Is anyone else thinking along these lines?

I want one but can't afford the current price tag (nor would I pay that much).. I'm seriously hoping the prices come down after the bubble bursts. I've been wanting one for a while now and I'm in a position to get one for pre-madness pricing.

    Only time will tell

I think if you give it another month the hysteria will be gone. Everyones attention will be back on football and who is going to win the super bowl. After that people will be looking to recoup some of there money and will be looking to sell for less then what they paid. Just have cash on stand by and be ready to jump when you see a good deal.

If you wait I suspect your will either get a rifle at "normal" reasonable prices or you may not be able to get one at all. Or if you private buy, you will pay even more.

I have been looking for a complete lower receiver for a Bushmaster upper that I have. My LGS can't find one and every online dealer says "out of stock" with the old price listed. Manufacturers and dealers are just holding back. Sellars on places like gun broker are scamming potential customers. I saw a Bushmaster lower for $800.
It reminds me of how gasoline goes out of sight when there is an oil shortage. Remember, that gasoline was already produced before the price went up. Dealers, remember one thing--the customer you are trying to screw now will remember you when prices come down and they will go to the big box stores like Wallyworld and not support you. I for one, won't. Guns are not like food and gasoline, they are a luxury not a necessity.

^^ This. It is all about the fear of being locked out due to an AWB or similar legislation. Either it will burst and go back to "normal" or things will get much worse.

Once the credit card bill shows up and the wives start *****in' then you'll see a ton in the classifieds.

Most people live week to week, paycheck to paycheck.

I am betting on it. Once the new AWB dies in committee, and christmas and heating bills start rolling in Feb....there will be deals to be had.

This really depends on your perspective...i consider a lot of my guns a necessity.

And I plan to capitalize on this. Plenty of people stripped lower receivers and will never put them together. I wouldn't mind picking one up and taking my time assembling it.

    Same here.

I can't wait to see the "profiteer" name calling members tell us how we're so bad for buying stuff at the lower market prices. Oh wait, we won't see that because they'll be buying them too.:):

The B A N will depend on how much pressure we put on our representatives. I don't want to turn this discussion into a political one, but think how much adversity the independent LEGAL gun owner has to face. All my guns are not a necessity, but I sure don't want to bury them. All I'm saying is that just like the car/truck you drive can go 1 to ? more years before you have to fix or buy either new or used. I just will not be taken advantage of if I have to do without a lower receiver. I have plenty of guns to shoot.

or you;ll just hear about how our country is failing because worthless "Americans" will be filing bankruptcy left and right.
( not like it doesn't already happen WAY more than it should ever be allowed to) :xmad:
