I've posted on this before, but so far we haven't found a good solution to the problem.

I'm looking for some sort of Holster for my Walther PK.380, that will work well with not only my clothing, but my <ahem> disabilities as well. So far we're at a loss.

I can't wear a belt due to prior back and hip surgery, can't wear a shoulder holster because of my upper back, as well as shoulder surgery, and possible future upper back surgery. And I find out the middle of this month if I'll be able to have a 2nd hip surgery, basically to fix the screw-up the first doctor did. (I'd have had a heck of a good lawsuit going, but the 2nd opinion Dr. I saw, lied to me about how long I had to wait for the first one to heal.) A thigh holster is out, I mean really, how obvious would it look for me to be reaching down the inside of my pants leg to grab it. An ankle holster is out, mostly because of my lack of coordination/balance, I'd reach down to get it, and probably keep going and fall over. Yes, I'm a world class klutz!

The 2 we've been able to come up with are: 1) a sort of all purpose "fanny pack", worn in front, that has a velcro opening, that I can pull open to access my weapon that way. Plus it'd have the added advantage of it doubling as a small purse as well. Or 2) we're thinking about getting some sort of "sticky" holster, for inside my sports bra. It's about the only 2 options we've been able to come up with.

I don't want one either inside, or attached to my purse, I absent-mindedly leave it unattended to often while shopping, and I don't want someone inadvertently stealing my purse, and getting my weapon as well. Plus the one I'm currently using is rather large (think small overnite bag) and a present from our daughter, so switching out this soon would hurt her feelings. Plus with what I already carry, (wallet, glasses, diet pepsis, etc. etc. etc.,) it would weigh a ton. And accessing it would be like reaching into a black hole, trying to find something by sense of touch. Not exactly inconspicuous to say the least.

The latter I could actually do tho, I developed that talent when I was carrying a diaper bag and had to get what I needed by reaching into it, in the back seat of the car, using the "touch identification" method. Necessity is the mother of invention.

So, while I like both of the options we've come up with, the fanny pack seems to be the better of the 2, as it would be more useful, as well, as I wouldn't have to worry about getting perspiration on the gun itself.

Any ideas, opinions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If you can think of something we haven't already considered, it'd be a big help on what I'm going to tote it around or conceal it in. Plus, with the sports bra, I don't want it falling out if/when I bend over. That would be a rather awkward situation, requiring some sort of explanation. Don't wanna go there, at least not if I don't have to. And I can't squat, knee surgery prevents that as well. So, as I said, any and all ideas, opinions and suggestions are welcomed.

    HELP! :):

did a google search for bra holster and came up with this:

    Naturally Concealed - Home

Looks like you could take a garter or something similar, and modify it to make it similar for less than 75 bucks...

But I imagine it wouldn't hurt your back as much d/t the higher focus of the weight and with the "bra like" shoulder straps"

You could probably make/stitch something similar into a quality 15 dollars sports bra from walmart/kmart/etc.

FWIW, what is you loss of range of motion in your shooting arm? You might not even be able to pull it if need be...

The new sticky holsters are supposed to work pretty amazing. I don't think you would have trouble if you bent over.

Thanks, we googled that one too, but when I printed the page and we brought it in to both my pain Dr. and my Ortho, it got nix'd. I don't have a ROM loss in that arm (thankfully), and I'm lucky as I'm also ambidextrous, so I can shoot from either hand, and often switch from one to the other, depending on the situation or just what feels better that day.

My left shoulder is the one that I had surgery on, and is also my dominant side, but I do use my right hand as well, making Bill nuts, cuz he never knows which way I'm going to go. The garter is a great idea tho, we'll look into that one, esp since I have a good friend who sews and might be able to come up with a few ideas for me on that. Great idea!

This is the only thing I can think of that you didn't mention.:dunno:

Belly Band Holster - The Original Bellyband - Concealment Holsters

That was one of the first ones we looked at, but my lower spine is severely damaged due to the arthritis, and my spinal cord is exposed in 3 places, so anything constricting there would be out. We printed off the ads/web links that everyone posted, and brought them with us to both my Pain Dr., and my Ortho, and that one got specifically nix'd because of the risk of constriction. I did try one similar to that, and the weight of my .380 almost yanked down my pants.

It was rather funny actually. Trying to practice drawing with one hand, while holding up my pants with the other. It did provide a goodly amount of amusement tho. Humor is what gets me thru most days, I've got a great sense of humor and it's nice to be able to laugh at myself, rather than cry and mope around being a "mopey joe" as my dad used to call it. Good idea tho, and thank you!

The new sticky holsters are supposed to work pretty amazing. I don't think you would have trouble if you bent over.

This I think is going to be our best option. We watched a video of the sticky holsters, and while I can't do hand springs like the model did, having something hold it in place looks like a viable option. That plus I could trade it around, wear it in my bra one day, a pocket the next, depending on how I'm feeling that particular day. I'm never sure in the mornings which joint is going to ache worse, it's a combination of arthritis and trauma caused by my ex that has me "decrepit" before my time. :)

I do have new hope tho, I see a new Dr. in Indy on the 22nd of this month, (he's a specialist, and one of the best in the state), and he may be able to redo the hip replacement that was botched back in 08, and if he can fix that, it'll take quite a bit of the strain off all 4 joints in question!

If you're in the Lafayette area, be VERY choosy about what Dr. you pick for an Ortho (avoiding slander here), personally I wouldn't let most of them work on my dog, let alone me. My hip replacement surgery was botched, causing my R leg to become 1" longer than my left, my pelvic bone dropped to a 45 degree angle, and rotated to the right, causing my spine to be out of alignment. Which is what caused my knee surgery and shoulder surgery, the knee due to the stress of walking like what I refer to as a "peg legged duck", and the shoulder surgery, due to a fall in our garage, because my knee gave out and down I went onto the concrete foundation. Hence my recommendation of seeking Ortho care in Indy, or as the Ortho I had here suggested, "if you want to receive quality Ortho care, it would behoove you to seek it out of state". Honestly, that's exactly what they said! Hence my extended stay in CA for 99% of 2010, having the work needed done out there. Now I go to Indy, and altho it's a bit of a drive, it's by far worth it!

So you see the predicament I'm in, in finding the suitable place to locate where I choose to carry my weapon, esp concealed.

On a funny note, just to lighten the situation, we tried a pretend thigh holster to try out over the weekend, and ended up with everyone having a great laugh. We know the night clerk of our local Speedway, and decided to play out our scenario for a thigh holster there, just on a "trial run" basis. I'm limited to wearing shorts at the moment, as I have to have something short and loose enough to fit over the boot cast I'm in. (Yea, I broke my foot about 2 weeks ago in a clumsy fall) So we set it up that I was in there pretend shopping, and our daughter would come in as a would be robber. She pointed her fingers, gun style (she won't touch a real one, a phobia we're trying to get her past) at the clerk and I went into action. I pulled open the front of my shorts, reached down the leg and pretended to pull out a gun (also my finger) to try and stop the robbery. I fumbled so bad, and it was SOOO obvious what I was trying to do, that it was several minutes before we could all stop laughing. Nice try, but definitely a "no go". Tried the simulated ankle holster here at home, and yup, I fell over. Not a good thing if you're really being robbed/attacked. The idea is to stop the BG, not cause him to die laughing! :):

Anyway, thanks for all your great and totally appreciated input, I really appreciate it that I can "pick your brains" for suggestions and ideas that I hadn't/haven't thought of myself. I love INGO, the people here are just about the greatest and most helpful you'll find, either on, or off the net! I really do appreciate the time and effort you took to look things up for me, it means a lot!

I have a Remora clipless holster and have worn my full size 24/7 OSS for a full 10 hours before with out it giving me any trouble or moving around. I really like it and can conceal a full size gun with a 5 inch barrel just as easily as my compact Ruger.

I don't have any experience with the "sticky holsters", but can tell you that Remora is a great company to do business with, and the owner is a transplated hoosier to my home town in FL (so a little bias there on my part).

I got the one with the Kydex built in the opening, it makes reholstering much easier as it holds the mouth of the holster open.
