I would go sugar free if you can.
These mask aren't helping either, my dentist thinks it's what causing me canker sores.
Never had any problems till these damn masks

I know some medications for COPD can cause thrush (like Advair for example), but it doesn't sound like you're using those. They warn against it and recommend rinsing your mouth with water after using the inhaler.

I'd research essential oils and making colloidal silver water (pure silver coin hack sawed in two, distilled water, fruit jar, last year's phone charger, voila).

You can also buy colloidal silver at some of the better health food stores. Must dilute it as it is concentrated.
