DD thought you might try this recipe from Betty Crocker when the grandkids are over

Howdy klaus. We used to serve a version of those at Fridays and they were awesome. They were basically little mini Monte Christo sammiches fried in a sweet batter.

Friday's were just ham and American on white bread (with the crust cut off, so that's kind of fancy), cut in quarters, dipped in the sweet batter that was kind of like a pancake batter. Deep fried, then dusted with powdered sugar and served with syrup.

I think I'm going to shower right before bed again. Feels like I'm "mulch-dusty" again. I never was a night showerer, but I've got to admit, it does make me go right to sleep when I go right to bed after a shower.
