I am a graduate student who grew up in Indiana, but I have recently moved to Cincinnati, OH to attend graduate school. Being that I just moved in June, I have not established official residency in Ohio, so I was wondering which state can I legally purchase handguns in without going through an FFL?

I have an address in Ohio, but I have not lived there for more than a year.

I wasn't sure how the law worked regarding purchasing firearms out of state. I understand I can purchase handguns out-of-state and have them shipped to an FFL in-state, but I would rather not go through that hassle.

    Thanks for the input!

I think the simple answer is, what is the address on your license? If Ohio, you will need to purchase a handgun in OH, if IN, then IN.

Right now, you are an Indiana resident. I would be careful, however, since some states require you to have an ID that matches your address within 10-30 days of moving.
