Reloading a batch of 223 on my dillon 650 and noticed some miiltary brass that was 1.735 to 1.740 long being undersize by .010-.015.... I do not see a big issue with this other than my crimp isn't getting hit before it ejects out of the reloader..... Is this a problem? Should I throw them out and use all the "on size" brass? IMO I do not see it being an issue in the chamber of my AR....The only issue I see may be that the shorter the case, the less surface the case has to hold the bullet. Is there anything else that might pose a problem?

no problem. but for the record, measure and trim AFTER resizing.

many military cases are undersized and i dont know why, but i have never had an issue with it.

    0.015" under is mostly meaningless.

If you are looking for benchrest performance you can either trim it all to 1.735" or toss out the undersized pieces. But they'll all grip the bullets just fine as is.

Really depends on what you will be using the ammo for; plinking and general target shooting - fine...national matches - maybe use uniform brass. I have never had a noticeable problem with that much variation.

It won't matter even for the 600 yard line at the National Matches.

Sort by weight for the 600 yard line, not by the length of the neck.

Please don't crimp your match ammo in an AR. You won't be happy with the results.
