    Well the point of +P is to increase velocity. Increased velocity pretty much ALWAYS increases expansion. Increased expansion=increased stopping power. Fairly simple really. All other things being equal (same exact bullet used) faster is going to perform better when were talking about hollow points. The ONLY exception to this would be if you over drive a bullet and it explodes on impact with little to no penetration but this is almost never a concern at handgun velocities.

    When is a little extra velocity a bad thing?? little more especially in the shorter carry barrels is a good thing

    When you are carrying an aluminum framed revolver that can't handle a +p round. Something like the S&W Model 12 (the aluminum version of the Model 10) or other handguns not rated for +p.
