    Just you watch.

I don't think that current Lt. Gov. Skillman has the personality and/or desire to be Governor.

What I'd like to see would be Pence as Gov. and perhaps Sink-Burris (sp?) for Lt. Gov.

Then Pence either in the Oval Office or in the Senate.

(my secondary hope is that Lugar is retiring soon and Pence runs for that seat)

pence would wipe the floor with evan bayh. Pence will run for governor and then he will run for president in 4 or 8 years after that deppending on the political climate at that time. Pence is one of the most powerful people in washington. the fact that he turned down continuing his leadership possition with the new congree with a republican super majority speaks volumes and anyone with a political background can clearly see what his intentions are. and yes i also do think that bayh will run for governor because he is the only hope the dems would have to beat Pence or any well known republican after the job daniels has done. but will lose if he's against Pence. Im still not ruling out a presidential run by bayh.

We don't agree on a whole lot, in the whole INGO-scheme of things... But we do on this.

Political rumblings from Bayh have been going on since he announced he wasn't seeking re-election to the Senate.

Oh, no, please, say it isn't so.

    Agreed.

Still can't rule it out. He and his family have deep and long ties here in IN. And my understanding is that he did "OK" as governor...(unless you were a government employee). But he either changed his coat when he went to Washington for a more liberal one, or his tenure as Gov. was held in check by the rest of the state legislature. (Kind of like how Clinton was held in check by the rest of the House/Senate)

If Bayh does run and Pence does as well, I would not count Evan out. For some reason that I have never been able to fathom, Hoosiers love the Bayhs.

For some reason the people of this state love bland, white bread, duplicitous politicians. Lugar, Coats, Bayh, Baron Hill......etc, etc.

It is a bit disconcerting to have two Republican Senators that I wouldn't even walk across the street to put them out if they were on fire (yes I left out a key part of that.).

Bayh is saving up his campaign money for something. Could be a run at the president or governor. I think both options are valid at this point in time.

Obama could easily lose the primary. Especially if a guy like Bayh, who spins a good line about being fiscally conservative, runs against him.

My bet would be Pence for Gov. Bayh may be thinking pres but he won't be the only challenge to Obama. I bet it will be just like a regular primary! The country realized it's center right and just corrected itself. I say the Dems are done for a while, maybe 20-30 years or so.

My my my you are an optimist. I wish I could feel the same way.

I do think that the Republicans, as much as I disagree with them about, could hold office for quite awhile now if they can capture a substantial percentage of the youth and minority vote at strategic times. This can be accomplished by adopting a libertarian stance on selected social issues immediately before an election.

My personal view is that the Republicans, in general, are elected by the majority of voters for their economic positions and by a minority of voters for their social policy. Democrats, however, receive a large number of votes for their PERCEIVED social policies...votes which are actually votes AGAINST Republican social dogma rather than votes in support of any particular Democrat policy. In being the "team" for such a wide variety of single issue voters, the Democrat party is careful to not endorse any controversial position with much solid commitment, lest they offend one or another of their alliances. By simply keeping their mouths shut while painting the Republican party with a broad brush of intolerance, they manage to pull in a competitive number of voters in any race.

Voters can eliminate the threat of wealth redistribution and socialism by way of neutering the oppositions voting block. Sure, this might be distasteful for those who abhor things like rolling back draconian drug laws and recognizing legal binding contracts between two adults....but isn't allowing Americans more liberty in their own backyards and bedrooms worth feeling secure in your investments, property ownership, and pocketbook?
