People powered tools can be bought from Crosscut Saw Company . For non-electric things you can check Lehmans.com . They specialize in Amish type appliances, tools, lighting etc. etc.
A couple of years ago I bought a people powered (Hydraulic ram) log splitter. While not as fast as a gas powered unit, it beats the stuffins out of a sledge and wedges. It's rated at 10 tons, so it falls in the medium range and won't do 24" logs but for everyday work it's great, without investing a thousand dollars.
