I will have to check my records (at work now) but I used to load a 350 gr cast boolit over a light load of trail boss. Velocity was only about 1000fps and it was a pretty good little load. I had a nef handirifle in the 500. Just couldn't keep a sight on it. Went thru three rear sights before I gave up. Sure I could have scoped but this was my short range brush gun. Want irons on it but it was not to be.......traded.

I think my hunting load/reduced recoil load is
350 grain bullet with 14.5 grains of tightgroup
feels like a .357 but kills deer dead...

300+gr bullet with all the Lil' Gun that the recipe calls for. Best velocity out of any other powder out there. Of course, that comes at a price on the butt end of the gun! FWIW

I used 18 grains of tightgroup and chronograph at 2450 at fps. I was able to hit center 8" target.
Used 350 grain soft point. It blew through the metal and left 1/2" hole!
Tried 32 grains of unique powder and 350 grain soft point. It was also 2495 fps.
Both were stout and backed off to 15 grains tightgroup. This is out the S&W 500 HANDGUN.
