    I've heard that there are some scattered pheasants in that area. But I didn't know there were shattered pheasants too.

    I have seen two just outside of town in Greensburg. There was probably a gap of five years or better between seeing them. I had to stop the truck when I saw the first one just to make sure that it really was a ringneck pheasant. Not sure if they got loose from somebody or not but it was really cool to see them out running wild. Wish we had more around.

    They usually won't survive south of about Lafayette. Generally speaking, anything you see this far south was pen raised. Left overs that the dogs didn't find or fly a ways.

    When I was young I'd raise and release pheasant and quail each year in Madison county. The quail would do just fine once released but I would usually lose close to half of the pheasants in the first month due to road kills. they never seemed quite that bright.
